This is coming along beautifully Heather. Can I ask what paper you are working on and if you are doing a lot of burnishing?

I never burnish myself as I'm always paranoid of loosing the tooth of the paper but I'm always interested in artists who do and their technique:)

Thanks LP!

Laura, I am using Canson Mi-Teintes pastel paper. I'm using the back of it, which has a bit less tooth. I do burnish...I find it gives a richer look to my drawings, and I find they don't look complete unless I do. Usually I use a colourless blender at the end, but this time I'm trying something new. After reading Christine Langman's (Big Cat Art) tutorial, I decided to try her technique. I really like it - It's different, and you can't put many more layers over it (as I'm finding out!), but I'm liking the effect. It's interesting to see how she does it.

this portrait has a lovely, delicate look to it. Looking forward to see it finished :)
